News in the S.A. Property Market
This week sees the fifth meeting this year of the Monetary Policy Committee, and it is widely expected that interest
rates will be increased by a further 0.5%, possibly 1.0%. Various factors
seem to be forcing Reserve Bank Governor Tito Mboweni's hand on the matter, with rising inflationary prospects
and the growing current account deficit being the two major factors at play. Read the recent SARB Annual Report.
The RMB/BER Business Confidence Index increased to 85,
close to the 23-year high levels recorded in 2004/5. Employment levels
have increased by an annual rate of 5% in 2004 and 2005, reducing unemployment by nearly half-a-million in
the last 3 years.
The Rand shed nearly 10% of it's value against the British Pound in the last 3 weeks, a drop that was not entirely
unforeseen. Read this article
by Dr. Cees Bruggemans, Chief Economist at FNB, who put forward several reasons for a weaker rand in the week
before the currency started it's recent decline. A more recent article explains the link between a weakening rand,
inflation, the current account deficit, and rising interest rates.
London set for biggest property launch yet!
The biggest South African property launch in London to date will be held on the 15th of October in Putney.
Balwin Properties (Pty) Ltd, in conjunction with International Property Solutions (IPS), will be launching
their prime development, The Kanyin, to the UK market – and provide 1.4 million expats with the same purchasing
opportunity as would be available in Johannesburg.
Balwin Properties and IPS will ensure that potential investors experience the same hospitality they would expect
to receive in South Africa: Balwin Properties arrive in the UK this week and bring with full range of marketing
material and information on their latest development, including a model of the development, the full range of
floor plans, informational DVD’s, artists impressions - even the architect! Expats based in the UK will thus
have a tremendous opportunity to meet with the developer and understand the opportunity, while enjoying South
African food and wine on the banks of the River Thames.
In addition to the investment opportunity, IPS will be raffling a return ticket to South Africa. Everyone who
books online and attends on Sunday will automatically get a ticket, with additional tickets available for sale
on the day. All proceeds will go to the T.R.E.E. charity.

Woza Ekhaya: Careers, Property, Business
IPS and the Homecoming Revolution have teamed up to organise Woza Ekhaya, an event aimed at assisting
South Africans living overseas in three key areas of returning to South Africa: Careers, Property and Business.
Woza Ekhaya means 'Come Home', and will be the first event of its kind to be held in London where returning South
Africans will get a chance to meet potential employers, invest in property and get their questions related to moving
back home answered. The event will be held in London on Saturday the 28th and Sunday the 29th of October (at Chelsea
Football Club), and in Dublin on Tuesday the 31st of October (at the Royal College of Surgeons).
There will be approximately 30 exhibitors at the show, comprised of South African employers wishing to attract a
skilled workforce back to South Africa, property companies with their latest developments and property investments,
and a range of service companies related to making the move back home, such as financial services, relocation,
immigration and more.
In addition to the exhibition, various seminars will be run throughout the day covering a range of topics relating
to South Africa and returning home, as well as 3 fuller workshops covering each of the aspects of Careers, Property
and Starting a Business.

IPS's First Podcast!
At IPS, we like to dabble in the latest available technologies!
Podcasting is one of the latest means of delivering online content to subscribers via the internet,
and while we haven't created a proper podcast in the truest sense of the word, what we are aiming towards
is delivering property-related information through audio-files uploaded to our website. Our first file is currently
online, and we'd greatly appreciate your feedback on both the technology and the subject matter ("How to Make Money in Property").

The 2006 Property Investor Show in London
IPS recently attended the 2006 Property Investor Show, held in September at the ExCel Centre in London. The Property Investor Show is the biggest trade show in the UK with over 13 000 people attending, and this is the third year in a row in which IPS has exhibited at the event.
The 2006 Show saw a marked increase in the interest in South Africa and South African Properties, quite possibly attributable to the country's growing international stature and the imminent 2010 World Cup. Read more about the exhibition on our website.
IPS attended the event with MSP Developments, a Cape Town developer whose recent projects include Aspect and
South Break, both of which are located in the high-growth suburb of Muizenberg.
